A new company with RICH history.
Ward Builders, while we are operating under a new name we have 20 + years experience as a full-service construction firm comprised of talented individuals whose commitment to excellence is inspired by the benefits that new construction brings to communities.
Working with industry leading architects, engineers and designers, we combine our expertise in a full range of disciplines to create imaginative, functional and cost efficient projects. Our experience and versatility allows us to adapt to the challenges and diversity of urban in-fill renewal, with a vision to improve the aesthetic composition of each neighborhood.
We understand the relationship between a project’s delivery schedule and its budget, as well as the need for flexibility before and during construction. By using this knowledge and experience, we help our clients minimize liability exposure, reduce construction costs and drive project schedules.
Throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, Ward Builders has a strong history and experience with transforming environments with innovative solutions, thorough planning and skillful execution. Our history includes affordable housing, apartments, condominiums, townhome communities, historic renovation and restoration, as well as light commercial. This includes 2,500 residential units and $180 million dollars of work in place, our team has the knowledge and experience to make your next project a success.

Rich Ward, Managing Member
Rich Ward
Born with a hammer in his hand, Richard Ward II grew up watching his father build houses, and he always wanted to work in his family’s construction business. To be able to look back at a day’s worth of accomplishments appealed to him. Rich returned to Washington, D.C. after college and moved to the Adams Morgan neighborhood. As the owner of a successful construction and development firm, Rich is always focused on the bottom line.
In 2000, he created Ellisdale (formerly Ellis Denning) to increase focus on the urban infill construction work in the neighborhood he called home. In 2004 he teamed up with his sister and brother-in-law to start Piccard Companies, developing an impressive portfolio of office building projects and new single-family residential divisions spanning from the Northern Neck to the Greater Washington Metro area, and now Richard is poised to take advantage of a residential market rebound in the coming years.
In 2022, he created Ward Builders to use his vast multi-family experience to give his clients the trust and relationship they deserve to execute their projects successfully.
